I will always remember a childhood memory of my mum and me racing to get to a test center. I was scheduled to take a standardized test that day and I was running late. I vividly remember trying to calm her down for a test that I was late for...lol. Finding a source of peace is a crucial step in the adulting world, because like I’ve said, life can be a pot of beans. You think I’m lying, here- “I realized another thing, that in this world fast runners do not always win the races, and the brave do not always win the battles. The wise do not always earn a living, intelligent people do not always get rich, and capable people do not always rise to high positions. Bad luck happens to everyone.” Ecclesiastes 9:11
Bad luck indeed happens to everyone. Sometimes life throws things at you that you are sure had someone else’s name on it. What happens then? Especially, during these extremely unsure times in our world. Times of pandemics, police brutality, rapings, senseless killings, etc. Let’s not forget about the pressures of day to day life like a job loss, family issues, a missed scholarship deadline, [insert your struggle here], etc. What makes it worse is, struggles leave scars behind. Scars are a tricky thing. They could earn you bragging rights because they show you’ve been to hell and back. They could also bring about the all too familiar phrase of regret, ‘What if?’ , ‘Could I have done something differently?’ So, as you go through your day today, take a minute and be grateful for your sources of peace under pressure, the people or things that provide a sense of anchor. For my fellow #JesusFreak folks we already know He is the realest G we have.
